Sharif Farrag: Laugh in the Dark
François Ghebaly is proud to present Laugh in the Dark, Sharif Farrag’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition delves into Farrag’s fantastical, autobiographical ceramic universe, which is populated with wildly overgrown ceramic forms teeming with dripping flowers, shadowy insects, gasping maws, and a riot of colors, textures and sheens.
Sharif Farrag was born in 1993 in Reseda, California, in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. He holds a BFA from the University of Southern California. Farrag has been a resident artist at the Ceramics Department of California State University Long Beach since 2018, and in 2019 he was awarded a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
